Vermont Family Vacation 2009

This is our first family vacation as a family of four. We rented a beautiful house on Lake Champlain in Colchester, VT. We hoped the weather would be typical Vermont August weather, however, they have had a particularly rainy and hot summer. While we have managed to enjoy the outdoors, we have also had to explore all the indoor activities Vermont has to offer. During the first week we went to the Vermont Teddy Bear and Ben & Jerry's factories. We also spend the day in Stowe, where Drew and daddy rode the Alpine slide and played on a bouncy playground. We went bowling and to another indoor playground, where Drew played miniature golf for the first time. He even got a hole in one! We drove to Montreal for the day and went to Six Flags La Rond. Drew loved the roller coaster! According to daddy, we were trialing an amusement park before our December adventure to Disney World. Drew waited for his turn on the rides like a total champ. And of course, finished each ride with his typical, "again?"

Naomi has enjoyed her first vacation except the time in the car. She still hates her car seat and cries 50% of the time in the car. It makes all of us very sad. But, the rest of the time she is smiling (lots!) and having fun and bonding with her daddy and brother. Mommy and Naomi have had the past three months to bond and still get extra special time together. Naomi is already sleeping 7 hours a night (from 11-6pm). What a great sleeper!

First photos of Naomi

Naomi's first couple of days have gone extremely well. She is doing all the necessary activities: eating, pooping, peeing, sleeping, and snuggling. Uncle Nate and Grandma and Grandpa arrived in time for her arrival and are now busy getting everything ready for her homecoming. Brother Drew finally visited the hospital and Naomi gave her brother a Yo Gabba Gabba coloring book. Drew gave the crayons to Naomi so she would color with him. Naomi slept in her new car seat all the way home and was welcomed by her beautiful nursery, pretty in pink, green, and yellow.

Naomi's arrival

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our daughter/sister Naomi Ronit Lamel born May 19, 2009 at 7:24PM. She measured 20.5 inches and 7lbs, 4oz. Naomi, which means beautiful and delightful, is named after her grandmother Nancy Persily, whose Hebrew name was also Naomi. Her middle name Ronit, meaning Joy, honors her great grandmother Ruth Kaplan. Already living up to her name, we think she is beautiful and she has already brought us tremendous joy.
